the waterscape, leeds

Contemporary purpose built offices, adjacent to a heritage building.

Giving due consideration to the visual impact of this building (in the green belt), the design was conceived to appear as a one and a half storey building from the main approach but offers three storeys of office / studio accommodation. The principle facade is contemporary yet sympathetic of the historic stone building adjacent with is more traditional palette of materials.  On the north side of the building, the glass façade of the ‘rear’ elevation has a more contemporary feel with its expressed steel bracing. Internally, this floor to ceiling glazing exploits the enviable views out of the canal and Kirkstall Abbey beyond, to the benefit of the open plan office / studio space within.
